The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Committee on Ethics and Privileges discussed this morning a proposed committee resolution that seeks to establish a Code of Ethics for the members of the Parliament.
The proposed code outlines the minimal ethical standard of conduct and behavior that MPs must follow, as well as what the Bangsamoro people expect from legislators and civil servants, such as upholding propriety, honesty, and ethical principles.
The committee will also draft a resolution to address the issue of lawmakers’ dress code.
Meanwhile, they elected MP Hamid Malik, who represents the region’s island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, as the committee’s additional vice chair.
The Committee on Ethics and Privileges, chaired by Deputy Speaker Atty. Omar Yasser Sema, has jurisdiction over matters relating to the duties, conduct, rights, privileges, immunities, integrity, and reputation of the BTA and its members.
