METRO MANILA —The Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE Philippines) conducted a consultation today (October 28, 2019) on the drafting of the Bangsamoro Electoral Code in Metro Manila.
Participants included CSOs, LENTE Chapters, and the COMELEC. During the discussion proper, they noted that police and military were working for the interest of the incumbents, local elections were ruled by political dynasties, and that there was a high percentage of illiterate voters. They hoped that there would be an established Bangsamoro Electoral Office and improved communication mechanisms with the electorate (more graphic, less text heavy).
