The Office of MP Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. launches its e-book on the Bangsamoro Education Code. This is the fifth e-book in a series on Bangsamoro legal and legislative references.
The BEC, or Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 18, was passed earlier in May during a special session. It is one of the priority codes of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, and covers the educational system within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. See full article.
COTABATO CITY — The Committee on Basic, Higher, and Technical Education met today at the BTA Extension Office and via Zoom to finalize the Committee Report on the Bangsamoro Education Code. The Chairperson of the Committee, MP Mohagher Iqbal presided over the meeting, assisted by MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr. Members of the Parliament Atty. Suharto Ambolodto, Atty. Maisara Latiph, Engr. Baintan Ampatuan, Diamila Ramos, Abdullah Hashim, Dr. Hamid Barra, Dr. Susana Anayatin, Prof. Eddie Alih, Musa Diamla, Melanio Ulama, and Mussolini Lidasan were present and discussed their proposals and views on contentious points in the Code.

COTABATO CITY — The Technical Working Group met for the last time today at the BTA Extension Office to vote on the contentious points among the proposed amendments to the proposed Education Code. MP Iqbal, MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr., and the legal team of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education, discussed and harmonized the provisions and the amendments with other MPs present over Zoom. They went over the qualification standards of MBHTE officials and positions, scrutinized the Arabic terms within the Code, and revisited other proposed amendments. COTABATO CITY — The Technical Working Group met today at the BTA Extension Office to discuss the inclusion of the Toril (Boarding Schools) system in the Bangsamoro Education Code. MP Maisara Latiph and MP Diamila Ramos presented their proposed provisions on the toril system. With the just concluded meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG), the Bangsamoro Education Code is getting near to the plenary hall of the Bangsamoro Parliament for its consideration.
Minister Mohager Iqbal, of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), also the Chairman of the Committee on Education of the Bangsamoro Parliament, presided the meeting held at the Conference Room at his BTA office this morning.
In attendance, were the Chairman of the TWG Atty. Rasol Mitmug, Jr., and Members of the Parliament Romeo Saliga, Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman, Dr. Susana Anayatin, Melanio Ulama and Atty. Maisara Latip (via Zoom). Read more.

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament started today the first of the series of public consultations on BTA Cabinet Bill No. 70 or the proposed Bangsamoro Education Code with the presence of academe sector and other stakeholders throughout the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The simultaneous public consultations strategically took place in various locations: Pagana Kutawato Native Restaurant in Cotabato City for Maguindanao; SP Hall in Isabela City, Basilan; Jolo Town Hall Complex in Jolo, Sulu; R and R Garden Inn in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi and at the BTA Extension Office in De Mazenod Avenue, Cotabato City. Committee constitutes the Technical Working Group on the Bangsamoro Education Code, composed of MP Hamid Barra (Minister, Ministry of Human Settlements and Development), MP Melanio Ulama (Minister, Ministry of Indigenous Peoples Affairs), MP Mohammad Yacob (Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform), and headed by MP Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. (Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Basic, Higher, and Technical Education.

COTABATO CITY – The Bansamoro Education Code was introduced to the plenary during a special session on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Minister Iqbal emphasized that the document is more than just a product of the legislative process. “Similar to how the Bangsamoro Organic Law meant to our aspiration for meaningful self-governance, the Education Code is the embodiment of our collective vision for an inclusive, relevant, effective, and transparent educational system in the region,” he said. COTABATO CITY – Education Minister and Member of Parliament Mohagher Iqbal filed the proposed Bangsamoro Education Code (BEC) in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority parliament on October 15, 2020.
The BEC or BTA Parliament Bill No. 70 is “an act providing for the establishment, maintenance, and support of a complete and integrated system of quality education in the Bangsamoro”.
