COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Rules Committee deliberated on the last few remaining articles of BTA Bill No. 29, or the Bangsamoro Electoral Code, on Thursday, March 2.
Articles IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and XIV, which stipulate provisions on election administration, voters, election offenses, and transitory provisions of the proposed electoral code, were deliberated on and amended by the members of the said committee.
Floor Leader and COR Chair Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba ensures that the composition of the Members of the Parliament is fairly represented and that issues and concerns raised during the public consultations have been adequately discussed during the period of amendments.
The 14-article electoral code will prescribe the structural, functional, and procedural principles for the conduct of elections, plebiscites, initiatives, referenda, and recall proceedings in the region.
Once approved, it will ensure that regional elections in the Bangsamoro are honest, credible, just, and free.
The committee will reconvene to finalize the proposed electoral code and present the report to the plenary next week. See more photos.
