Two members of the Bangsamoro Parliament filed a measure seeking to discourage the use of single-use plastics (SUPs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) due to their detrimental effects on the environment. MPs Amir Mawallil and Rasol Mitmug jointly filed Parliament Bill No. 248 entitled “BARMM Single-Use Plastic Regulation Act of 2023,” which seeks to adopt a systematic, comprehensive and ecological regulation of single-use plastic materials within BARMM.
