Moro youth included in the pioneering dual degree program of AIM and Houston University

The pioneering dual degree program of Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) along with a Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston held their convocation yesterday, August 14, 2023.

Mohammad Miadh M. Angkad is the only Bangsamoro youth qualified and included in the 51-student dual program class. They started their first class today with Angkad as part of the pioneering group of this offering. This program is a partnership between the AIM and the C.T Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.

The Office of MP Mitmug is honored to be able to support Angkad’s education, thereby making him an inspiration for the BARMM youth and educator sector to invest in data science. We hope that more BARMM institutions will give attention and assistance to Angkad as he perseveres to be the first Moro graduate of this landmark program.

Angkad is determined to harness the power of data to drive meaningful change, create innovative solutions, and foster economic development. Angkad graduated in Albert Einstein School as Grade 12 valedictorian.

We are also grateful to AIM President and Dean Jikyeong Kang and Prof. Christopher Monterola for opening opportunities and believing in the potentials of our youth in the BARMM.

Bangsamoro Gazette Act: Admin Order to Legislation

The Bangsamoro Gazette Bill, authored by MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr., if passed into law, shall serve as an official platform for publishing laws, regulations, legislative acts and resolutions of a public nature and such documents or classes of documents of general application.

The Bangsamoro Gazette Bill, authored by MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr., if passed into law, shall serve as an official platform for publishing laws, regulations, legislative acts and resolutions of a public nature and such documents or classes of documents of general application.

The importance of having an official gazette for the Bangsamoro can be traced to the national level. The Official Gazette is the public journal and main publication of the Philippines. The localization of an official gazette is in line with the effort to make all government documents public and accessible and aligned with the 12-point agenda of the Bangsamoro Government. In fact, the Chief Minister issued Administrative Order No. 0002, s. 2023, in March, operationalizing the Bangsamoro Gazette, with the same purpose as the pending bill.

HIGHLIGHT REEL: MSU Tamparan Community High School Graduation 2023

HIGHLIGHT REEL: MP Rasol Mitmug Jr. delivering his commencement and completion address to the Senior High School graduates of MSU Tamparan Community High School last July 4, 2023.

“To our completers, as early as now, you should begin mapping out your career path. Choose the best strand which you think is the best for you. Do not forget to seek Allah’s guidance and your parent’s advice in every decision you make.

Above and beyond all other consideration, never forget to pursue your Islamic education as it is crucial for our personal growth and spiritual development. Today, there are many significant opportunities for Islamic education. With the increasing number of Madaris or Islamic educational institutions, there is a growing demand for Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (ISAL) teachers.

Finally, the most important is to give back to your parents and to your community as it will give you a sense of purpose. The fulfilling feeling of giving back and contributing to society is unparalleled.”

Immersion of CCNHS SHS students

Three senior high school students of Cotabato City National High School – Main Campus underwent work immersion at the Office of MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr. under the Bangsamoro Junior Parliamentarian Program, which is a part of the Inquiries, Investigation, and Immersion (3Is) Contextualized Curriculum in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

As their first task given by the Office, Asia Farhannah Ali Sabpa, Aira Abdul Sali, and Bai Nasrheya Tama Mundas attended the Orientation on the BTA Parliamentary Rules, Procedures, and Practices to the Newly Hired PCAD Employees on May 29-30, 2023 at the Speaker’s Lounge, BTA Parliament Building, as observers to the program. MP Mitmug also served as Resource Speaker during the two-day program.

On their second day to the immersion, they were able to meet and interview MP Mitmug about his work as a legislator and public servant. In fact, MP Mitmug brought them to the Kadja’an in the Bangsamoro Government Center as part of his team who visited and explored the cultural booths of the BCPCH. They were also interviewed by ImindsPh, sharing their experiences on the visit.

MP Mitmug staff introduced different work systems to the students and let them observe the operations of the Office. They were also given the chance to meet the District Office (DO) team in Marawi City through zoom where the bulk of legislation work is being done. Atty. Hapsha Sansarona, the head of legislative team, explained to them the fundamentals of legislation process and parliamentary systems. Meanwhile, Ms. Queenie Comadug, head of the DO, discussed the constituency work of the Office in the Lanao areas.

MP Mitmug said the immersion work is a purposeful experience for the students to be exposed to the Bangsamoro Parliament’s work as early as now as they prepare for their college experience.

The Bangsamoro Junior Parliamentarian Program, a project of LENTE Philippines and the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, is geared toward promoting responsible citizenship in the K-12 Curriculum and directly contributes to the attainment of quality and holistic education by strengthening student-led policy advocacy.
