Focus group discussion on “Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the BARMM: A Decade of Regional Implementation of UNSCR 1325” last 12 February 2023, Sunday at the District Office of MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr., at the G/F VIP Lounge, MSU Gym, Marawi City.
This activity is part of a series for the research work of SITTIE JEHANNE U. MUTIN, Lead Researcher/ UNDP RAP-WPS Technical Consultant, on women in conflict, especially in the light of the Marawi siege and rido in the area. The FGD is organized in partnership with the Office BTA MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr. and the Rotary Club of Marawi. The participants are women composed of community leaders, beneficiaries and implementers of the WPS specially the Bangsamoro Women Commission – BARMM Lanao and/or GAD program in BARMM from 2012-2022. The objectives of the activity are: validate women, peace and security issues in the BARMM, assess RAP WPS agenda in the BARMM, and recommend WPS policies for the BTA.

MSU Young Society Parliamentarians Writeshop on the drafting of Position Papers on proposed Bangsamoro Local Governance Code and Bangsamo Electoral Code.
Said activity is an initiative of the Kalombayan Kilos Organization, in partnership with the Office of MP Mitmug District Office. The Office also discussed the salient provisions of the aforementioned proposed codes with the students. The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Rules Committee
Day 5 and last day of deliberations
The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Rules Committee finished its deliberations on Articles 1 through 10 of BTA Bill No. 29, bringing the proposed electoral code one step closer to committee approval.
Following a series of public consultations, the committee immediately started deliberating the 14-article electoral code.
On Wednesday, February 8, the committee discussed Articles 7 to 10 of the code, such as the qualification of elective local officials, regular elections of officials, the conduct of elections, electorates, and election administration.
The deliberation today was presided over by Floor Leader and COR Chair Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba.
Atty. Dumama-Alba said that the committee targets submitting the committee report when the session resumes on the third week of February.
The electoral code is one of the Bangsamoro Parliament’s priority measures that must be enacted during the transition period.
It will outline the structural, functional, and procedural principles that will govern the election of officers in the region.(LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
KALOMBAYANI APPLICATION PROCESS
Together with the Office of MP Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. and Office of MP Khalid M. Hadji Abdullah, the Kalombayan Kilos is now officially opening the application for its political empowerment fellowship program dubbed as KALOMBAYANI: Champions of Progressive Governance.
If you are a registered voter of the Islamic City of Marawi, aged 18-25 years old on February 24, 2023, able to read and write, with good moral character, and shares an interest in local politics and governance, then you are eligible to apply!
You just need to accomplish the Google Form by filling-out the necessary information required and answering the two essays. You are also required to attach a formal photo of yourself and any ID indicating your age and residence.
After accomplishing the Google Form, the Screening Committee will convene to deliberate your application. Only 25 applicants will be short-listed for an interview, but only 15 will be admitted as a Kalombayani Fellow who will be joining us in our onboarding session this February 24-26, 2023 in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
