MP Mitmug holds stakeholders dialogue meeting on housing

COTABATO CITY – The Office of Deputy Minority Floor Leader MP Rasol Mitmug, Jr., held a Stakeholders Dialogue on Housing at Pagana Kutawato Restaurant today, April 6, 2022.

Various homeowners’ associations (HOAs) and urban poor representatives were present to air their concerns and queries to the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD). MP Mitmug introduced MHSD Minister Hamid Barra and facilitated the open dialogue.

The urban poor population in Cotabato City consists of both Muslims and Christians and only a portion have received housing through national-funded programs. Atty. Anwar Malang, convenor for the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy and long-time advocate for the urban poor community, summarized their immediate concerns:

(1)  Request for socialized housing (either through housing infrastructure or purchase of private lots)

(2)  Livelihood (if they would be relocated to other areas)

(3)  Loss of their homes due to road-widening projects

(4)  Lack of access to clean water

(5)  Lack of road access (those living in swampy/ rural areas)

Aside from giving updates on the Ministry’s ongoing programs, Minister Barra relayed that the programs would be inclusive to all Bangsamoro residents. He encouraged the organizations to submit their respective concerns and proposals as these could also be pursued with international development partners, aside from the programs of the BARMM government.

Director-General Esmael Ebrahim also assured them that the Ministry would be pursuing a larger budget for the next fiscal year (2023). Ebrahim explained that as much as the Ministry would like to fast-track the implementation of said projects, they still had to comply with government procedures such as the inspection of the land and securing permits and clearances from the local government units, which would require time.

At the closing, MP Mitmug expressed his thanks to the Ministry for taking the time to respond to the concerns of the HOAs and to the organizations present for the productive discussion. Mitmug informed them his office would extend assistance in endorsing their proposals to the Ministry and to the Parliament, if need be. Some of the organizations that were present included: Pagbabago HOA, Samaka HOA, Inc., Divine Mercy Organization, St. Joseph HOA, and Tanghal Bridge HOA. Also in attendance from MHSD were Director-General Esmael Ebrahim and Chief of Staff Ajeeb Barra.

MP Mitmug turns over digital duplicators in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao under TDIF

MARAWI CITY – The Office of Deputy Minority Floor Leader Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. distributed a total of 12 digital duplicators to various municipalities in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao availed through the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) under the 2020 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) last February 22, 2022.

The recipients are as follows:
1. Municipality of Kapatagan
2. Municipality of Marantao
3. Municipality of Taraka
4. Sultan Malungun National High School, Municipality of Maguing
5. Municipality of Lumba Bayabao,
6. Brgy. Sagonsongan, Marawi City
7. Municipality of Parang, Maguindanao

Each duplicator set (Kyocera Ecosys multi-functional printer) included four boxes of ink. The provision of digital duplicators is part of the Bangsamoro Government’s response to the online distance learning set-up. Teachers may now make use of the duplicators for the reproduction of students’ modules.

The said municipalities expressed their thanks and gratitude to MP Ras Mitmug for extending support in the service for Bangsamoro Education. This is in fulfillment of one of his advocacies in uplifting the Education in the Bangsamoro Region. By the will of Allah, no Bangsamoro child will be left behind.

Medical outreach program In Lumba Bayabao

The Office of Deputy Minority Floor Leader Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. through the Ministry of Health, conducted a medical outreach program in Brgy. Mapantao, Lumba-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur on December 11, 2021.

This initiative is part of the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The outreach program provided and offered free health services such as consultations, free medicines, hygiene kits, and free X-rays through the mobile clinic donated by MP Mitmug to the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur.

We would like to express our gratitude to the MOH headed by Minister Bashary A. Latiph, Rural Health Unit of Lumba-Bayabao, Barangay Local Government of Mapantao headed by Hon. Baguinda Monte, Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur and volunteers for this opportunity to serve the Bangsamoro people in Lumba Bayabao, Lanao del Sur.

3 BTA MPs and BPDA exec among MNSA Executive Class pioneer graduates

MP Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia, MP Engr. Baintan Adil Ampatuan, MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph and BPDA Director General Mohajirin T. Ali are among the first batch to complete the Executive Master in National Security Administration (E-MNSA) Program of the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Let’s look at their achievements below.

MP Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia, MNSA, CESE, BTA Minority Floor Leader, graduated with Honors and a SILVER MEDAL in both Academics and Best Thesis from the Master in National Security Administration Executive Program’s pioneer class. She was also recognized for academic excellence with the Term Award (Terms 1-3), Meritorious Thesis Award, and Silver Medal award. She is also the Chair of the GPH’s Working Group on Demobilized Combatants and Communities. During the graduation ceremonies, MP Atty. Laisa was also commissioned into the AFP Reserve Force with the rank of Commander in the Philippine Navy (Reserve), which will take effect after the President’s assent, in accordance with Presidential Decree 190 and Republic Act No. 7077.

MP Engr. Baintan Adil Ampatuan, MNSA, CSEE graduated with honors and received a SILVER MEDAL in Best Thesis as well as a Bronze Medal in Academics. She also received the Term Award (Terms 1-3), Meritorious Thesis Award, and Bronze Medal for Academic Excellence for her academic achievements. Engr. Baintain is also the MILF Camp Transformation GPH Chair.

MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph and BPDA Director General Mohajirin T. Ali both earned an Executive Master in National Security Administration.

Driven by hardwork and determination, these BARMM public officials strived to complete and obtain their Executive Master in National Security Administration. The Office of MP Mitmug applauds these civil servants who increase their professional expertise by gaining additional education in order to better serve their constituents.

This will increase situational awareness and operational strategy in the Bangsamoro’s transition to independence, as envisioned by the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro.

The E-MNSA program is the only graduate-level program in the country that offers a master’s degree which covers formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies in national security administration.

The pioneer class is identified as Master in National Security Administration Executive Program, Executive Class 01.

 

 

 

Meranaw condiments you need to know

In a Meranaw household, a meal would not be complete without the delectable and spicy palapa which serves as an appetizer.

Sakurab is the main ingredient in making Palapa. Palapa is an important feature of Meranaw cuisine. Maranao or “people of the lake”, it is the name given to a group of Muslim people in the Philippines who originated in the southern region of the country. Palapa can be found in almost every Maranao family. It’s a condiment that’s commonly found in our cuisine.

Sakurab, also known as native shallots, is a vegetable that resembles scallions and is used as a traditional Filipino cuisine seasoning. The Meranaw, in particular, makes extensive use of it as part of their daily meals. Sakurab is the major component of the popular Maranao condiment palapa, which includes spices, salt, and ginger. It is good as a side dish when eaten raw. 

Sakurab also known as “sibujing” in traditional cuisines in the islands of Mindanao and Visayas is available for purchase for about 500 grams each bundle. Each bundle costs between 20 to 30 pesos. It can also be purchased outside of Lanao, but prices are higher.

in addition to Sakurab, ginger and chilis are needed to make palapa, . These ingredients are mixed in a food processor or by using a mortar and pestle alone. Salt is added after mixing the three ingredients, and this can be kept in the fridge if you only want to use it for cooking to preserve its quality.

Palapa can be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen. You can add it to scrambled eggs, sauté it, eat it with fried fish, or season it with soy sauce, among other things.
